Avonex is a beta interferon drug treatment for relapse remitting MS. It is a weekly injection which you must do yourself into a large muscle, usually your leg, but it can be your arm. The docs supply you with the drugs, needles and a sharps bin. Some people get their partners to inject them, others do it themselves. Like anything with this damn disease, you eventually get used to it! Often people taking it report feeling groggy the next day or two afterwards, like having a mild flu.
